I've spent a large portion of the day paying bills, setting up automatic payments and doing things, like learning how to set up my voice mail (those of you who have been unable to leave us a message for several months might appreciate that!)
The problem? I've spent the day talking to computers who are frustrating, and it's taken me three and four times as long to do something then it would if I just talked to a human! Talking to a human, what a concept!
Arggg #2 and question of the day. If you end up on the phone with a customer service representative that you can't understand, what course of action should you take?
1.) Grin and bear it and try your best not to flip out?
2.) Hang up and try again, hoping for better luck next time? (mind you this means filtering through the computer mumbo-jumbo til y ou actually reach a person?
3.) Or, ask to be transferred to somebody else?
Any advice?

Ask for someone else.
It drives me batty to have to deal with someone who doesn't speak English. Who's idea was it anyway to put them in Customer Service?
They are so fired!!
Have you ever actually asked for someone else? I've never had the guts!
Here's a good site for getting past the computers to a live person.

Also prayer works (Phil 4:6) but I have to admit that sometimes that that's not the first thing that comes to mind.
Hope this helps... RonP
I have to call customer service all the time for computer/phone related stuff, it can be very frustrating. Of course my consolation is that I'm getting paid while my time is wasted on the phone. The not being able to understand someone is tough. I can't remember actually asking for someone else because I couldn't understand them. I have told them, "I can't understand a word you are saying", and I have hung up and called back hoping to get someone I could understand (if I didn't have to wait 20 minutes on hold just to talk to the first person). Most of the time I just have to ask them to repeat half of what they say. The most annoying part is that you can ask them to repeat something 4 or 5 times, and every time, they will say it EXACTLY the same way.
Hi Robyn! I didn't know you guys had kids and are in Albany! That is so awesome! Your little Titus and Leeann are very cute. And your blog is fun to read. Congrats on being a great mommy. I will be checking back here often. I don't hardly know anyone from college who has had kids! Have a great day!
Sometimes, if you don't push any buttons and just wait and ignore the computer, they will automatically transfer you to a person.
