Rob and I had been hoping to take another family trip to Disneyland for quite some time now. We were tentatively planning one in February. However, several weeks ago we were looking at our calendar and we realized that there really was no way we could manage to go in February, due to various other commitments we had going on around the time we were planning our trip.
At the same time we were recognizing that we were in definite need of some time off, and we had some time that we could take off of work, so we decided to take the plunge and take a trip to Disneyland a few months earlier than we originally planned. Because we're crazy like that!
And, because we decided to go at this time only a few weeks out, we decided to keep it a secret from our kids! So, yesterday morning (and by morning I mean 4:15 am), we woke the kids up, took them down to the couch and put on our Disneyland DVD for them. This wasn't much of a surprise to them considering we actually watch this DVD fairly often!
Then Rob asked them if they wanted to go to Disneyland right now and they both looked at him like he was crazy. And, like it was way too early to be asking them such a silly question!
At first Titus actually said he didn't want to go. But after he woke up a little more he quickly changed his mind!
This is the kids cuddled up watching the DVD. There faces totally give away how each one felt about it. Titus seriously just wanted to go back to bed!
Our first stop of the morning was Starbucks. We stopped there for breakfast. And, no I didn't take a picture of some random person at Starbucks... this is our 17 year-old niece, KayLee. We were lucky enough to get to have her join us on super short notice. Thank you, Chuck and Shelly for letting her join us!
Our second stop was just down the road, at the California border.
This was KayLee's first time to Disneyland, AND to California!
Our next stop was In & Out in Redding, California, where a couple of Rob's friends live. Jenny and her son, Lincoln were able to meet us for lunch. We ended up missing Breanna this time around. I guess we'll have to come back again soon so we can see her too :0)
We left our house at 5:00 am and arrived at our hotel at 10:45 pm. 17 hours, 45 minutes. 928 miles.
Whew, that was a long day!
