Chariot Races
Rob decided to take the kids on a chariot race last night. They had tons of fun!
Titus threw a fit when his turn was over. He's starting to learn what it means to throw fits. Not my favorite!
Faster daddy, faster!
Do it again uncle Rob, do it again!

Flying by...
Life seems to fly by so incredibly fast these days! Not only is life flying by but I'm also entering a quite stressful stage at work, making things all that much crazier! This has been a tough week for me, as I'm learning some of the more difficult sides of ministry. I know God wants to teach us lessons about life, and we're usually better off when we go through them, but knowing that doesn't really make it an easier to go through them though!
One well known Children's Pastor describes the first year of ministry as the "honeymoon stage". You know, where you're ambitious, energetic and you are ready to take on the world! The second year of ministry is described as "Tears of loneliness (why doesn't anyone like me)?" That's the stage where you start to make some changes and we all know how people like change :0) Well, I must be an over-achiever because it hasn't even a full year yet, but I am defiantely entering the latter stage. The good news is: it eventually gets better!
Really, I'm holding up pretty well all things considered but this has been a far less-than-ideal week of ministry. God is good though, and I can already see good coming from not-so-good situations. I definately am learning a great deal and being stretched, and in the end it's a good thing. Perserverance is my word for the week!
In other news: Titus bit me so hard it drew blood today! I was trying to feel a molar that's coming in (his first!) and he must have decided that my finger tasted good or something. He's got an amazing grip for such little teeth!
Leeann is girlie as ever these days. Every day she asks if she can wear a princess dress, and she asks for some blush and chap stick as I do my make-up in the mornings. She still asks if she can marry daddy. It's wierd to see someone else love and adore my husband as much as I do :0)
That's pretty much what's going on on the home front. Suzy's working tonight and Rob's at a meeting for most of the evening so I'm just watching all four kiddos. Truthfully, they're in the living room watching Lord of the Beans and eating pop-corn. I know, this is why I get paid the big-bucks!
It is nearing the end though, and I've got some little ones I need to wrangle up to get to bed! It will actually be nice to have a little time to myself this evening. I rented a chick flick and I'm going to eat a really big bowl of ice cream, because that's the kind of week I've had! Yup, that's about how good I'm doing on this healthier food kick :0)... just in case you were wondering!

17 Months
Titus is 17 months old now, and more handsome and sweeter than ever before!
He's running around holding his own with the bigger kids, and his babbles are turning into clearer and clearer words everyday. He's signing many words also, clearly communicating that he knows what he wants. He's also starting to give lot's of hugs and kisses, which I'm obviously not complaining about! Yesterday he was even grabbing my face with both hands to pull me into a kiss. *smile*
He's still fearless and needs to be watched like a hawk on our bed because he'll walk right off of it without thinking twice! His encounters with the toilets have subsided a bit, though we're trying harder to keep them inaccessible.
He still make a huge mess when he eats, but he's a pretty good eater. He's got a smile that melts my heart on a regular basis--showing off all 8 of his teeth!
He says mama and dada, uh-oh, all done, and he copies the sound for aunt Suzy. He's copying lot's of sounds and using them somewhat in context, but it's still hard to understand him.
He's fallen in love with Curious George and he's more attached than ever to his blanket and his binki. It's obvious that we missed the opportune time to wean him from those.
He's starting to get mad when daddy leaves and it's quite cute. I love to see those two bond more and more each day!
He signs more, all done, please, thank you, milk and water pretty regularly now... and he's quite proud of himself when he does it too! What can I say, other than he's by far one of God's most precious creations--and I don't think it's just because I'm his mommy!

Mini-Vacation
The four of us went up to visit Rob's family over these last couple of days. We had a lot of fun and we got to see Rob's sister Shelly and her family (two of her girls are below--thanks for the lovely room and fantastic hospitality!), Rob's mom and step-dad and his dad and step-mom (hey, thanks for the yummy dinners!) and Rob's old Youth Pastor, which was an extra-special treat (his daughters blogs are on my links, Jenny and Breanna). We also got to visit IKEA (Swedish heaven!), which was wonderful as well! We had a great time, though it's always great to be back home after a trip away.
More Froggy
No frogs were harmed in the taking of these photographs (at least not that I'm aware of!)
Eroica's Baby Shower
This is one of my best friends, Eroica. She is owner of Precious Portraits and currently 9 months pregnant with a little boy who's name is not available for public knowledge yet :0) Jennifer and Milly threw a wonderful baby shower for her at my house this week.
I had been wanting an excuse to try out my new tiered cake pans, and I had a beautiful cake planned out in my head. It didn't really look anything at all like the pictures you see below, but that's okay because this one turned out allright too. Apparently I'm not ready for wedding cakes yet though, it was quite a bit more difficult than I had imagined it would be. Oh well, you learn more with each one!
And, just in case you were wondering, the accessories are bath toys from the baby section at Target. Hey, whatever works!

1366
That's how many calories a person my height weight and age would have to eat each day in order to lose 1 pound a week. Yikes!
Have you ever paid attention to calories? They're in everything (duh!)... and lot's of them!
That's any given McDonalds value meal with a refill of soda. That's not even two totinos pizza's (sorry Suzy!).
A turkey sandwhich with a little bit of ranch dressing and a handful of chips will cost you around 400 calories. A 1/2 cup serving of ice cream is going to run you 150 or so. So, my average bowl of ice cream is more like 400, plus the calories from the milk and the chocolate sauce I like to put on top!
A medium soda? 210. A handful of chips? 150. A cereal bar? 150. A bowl of cereal with fat free milk? 200. Yogurt, strawberries and granola? 400! A 16 oz double chocolate chip blended creme from Starbucks? 380--without whip cream.
Regardless, it all adds up to 1366 far faster than I'd like to think! This really isn't easy. You have to be quite diligent to stick with that.
I haven't had any soda or coffee in more than two weeks now, and I've had very little chocolate (besides in my ice cream). Those all add up the calories quite quickly. Or, subtract the calories quite quickly if you're willing to do without. Suzy and Rob are beginning to call me the calorie police. It's kind of fun though. It's almost like a game to figure out how to get the most bang for your buck. Or, the most filling and goodness for your 1366 calories!
Once I hit my ideal weight I can up my calories to 1866, which seems a bit more doable. I look forward to that day with great anticipation. Though, if I truly am cutting down to 1366 calories it will still take me 10 weeks. It's a little hard to tell though because it's hard to figure out how many calories some things have. The scale and my jeans tell no lies though, so we'll see!

This isn't so easy...
I've never really gone on a 'diet' before. Not like this anyway... you know, one that actually changes the way I eat :0)
It's been 9 days, though it feels like 3 years! This whole being considerate of what you eat thing is kinda tough! And... not real tasty either!
Okay, really, it hasn't been all that bad all things considered. I've lost 1.5 lbs. I feel like the other 8.5 could take another 10 years to melt off, but such is life. I am finding that just making simple healthier choices is making a difference. And, not going back for seconds. I haven't given up my ice cream but I have found healthier alternatives that actually taste quite good (yay for Breyer's light mocha silk!) Somehow though, I wish I could just wish 10 pounds away by just thinking healthy thoughts. They tell me that's not how it works though...

One baby down, two on their way, one to go...
... and then a few more down the road (and one not too long ago!)
Okay, there's something in the water and I'm glad I wasn't drinking it approximately 9 months ago!
Diana (a friend from my Corban days--see my links) had her baby just about a month ago. Welcome to the world baby Peter!
Brenna (the youth pastor's wife and a good friend) had her baby Tuesday night. Welcome to the world Claire Grace!
Cherish (a friend of mine and the old youth interns wife--see my links) is currently in the hospital awaiting the much anticipated arrival of the yet-to-be revealed gendered baby!
Becky (another friend from my Corban days--see my links) is also in the hospital today awaiting the arrival (if not already arrived) her baby boy. I happen to think he's got a super name. I'll announce it later, or you can link to her blog!
Eroica (one of my very bestest friends) is anticipating the arrival of her son. She's scheduled for a c-section on May 9th, but she's been having quite a bit of cramping as of today.
Andrea (a friend from church), Becca (another friend from my Corban days see links) and Courtney (Cherish's sister who goes to our church) are all just past the half-way point.
Brenna, Cherish and Eroica are all in our small group--which is obviously growing in rapid numbers! Rob and I are still thinking that we're happy to be content holding other people's cute babies though, so don't expect us to drink the water any time soon. I'll be sure to post more annoucements as they arrive!

A package in the mail!
This is me typing on my brand new Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop! Needless to say, I'm a little bit excited!!! As you may have caught in an earlier post, I've been saving for a laptop and we didn't have to pay nearly as much for our taxes as what we'd saved for... so my husband who loves me very much took it upon himself to order me my laptop! Yippie! I'm still saving up because I will owe some of the money back to us. I know, we're wierd!
This means, it should be easier for me to blog now, so hopefully I'll update you more regularly now. Only because I know how much my readers like to hear about my children's potty stories!

Water Boy?
If you scroll a few posts down you'll see my rant a few days ago about Titus playing in the toilet. Despite my best attempts at keeping the lids closed (we have 3), he has been at it again on several more occassions.
Today--getting ready for church mind you, and trying to be on-time--Titus decided to play in the toilet again. I closed the lid and cleaned him up. Then he started walking around with the plunger--gross!
Just I was about to walk out the door he started playing in a 5 gallon bucket of water that was in front of our fridge (catching the water that randomly started steadily leaking out of our water spout last night in our fridge door that never did work). So, as he's happily splashing around, getting water all over himself and the floor I wanted to lose it. Hey, at least it gave me something to blog about :0), and hopefully something for you to laugh about?

Always and Never
Leeann is closing in on 4 years of age (in July). Being the age of 3 brings many delightful changes and challenges, joys and sorrows. One of those things is an ever-expanding vocabulary and a nack for new understandings. The most recent of which, is a constant use of "always" and "never".
I always take a bath with the purple ball.
I never be naughty.
I always go the park (or the store, or to a friends).
I find myself "arguing" with her over the use of these words, because I can't figure out how to explain to her using any other words what exactly always and never mean. Don't worry, the arguing doesn't last long because I recognize how silly it is and that she'll eventually figure it out.
The funny things that kids do, and the funny ways that parents respond...

I accepted a bet...
I'm a little competitive. Okay, maybe a lot competitive...
Well, two days ago I accepted a bet with Leeann's preschool teacher that the first one to lose 10 pounds owes the other $10. Two other people got in on the bet and now the stakes are higher.
The offer came in good timing because I've been lamenting about the need to lose a few pounds, but concerned about trying to figure out how to get motivated to do so. In fact, the day before I took the bet I was telling Suzy that I need to figure out how to make getting healthier some sort of a competition to help get (and stay) motivated.
So, now the world knows... which will hopefully give me even more motivation! And, just for clarification this isn't a woe-is-me, I'm so fat, I need to go annorexic kind of thing. I simply see that I could have some healthier habits that would ultimately result in an ideal weight that is 10 pounds lighter than I what I currently weigh. So, don't go freaking out on me like I'm going to change my name or something :0)
Anyway, I really hope I stay motivated and stick with it because I really would like to enjoy the benifits of being healthier. Does anybody have any good hints or tips of things that have worked for you? I'd love to hear them, leave a comment below!
p.s. I prefer something that doesn't exclude sugar cereal and ice cream :0)

You've gotta be kidding!
I was giving Titus a bath this afternoon when he decided to poo in the bath-tub. Not thinking clearly I tried to remove it with toilet paper that just fell apart. Then I got smart and grabbed a baby wipe. I cleaned Titus up and got him dressed and let him down to play.
A few minutes later he was splashing around in the toilet in the other bathroom. I can't say it's the first time, for some reason he likes to splash and the toilet seems to be the only body of water consistently available. Arggg. I'm really going to try to do a better job of keeping the lid closed!

I've been kissed!
Those of you who know me well, know that out of the 5 languages of love I speak 99% physical touch! (It's a must-read book if you've never heard of it).
I posted this a couple of weeks ago but--because of this fact, it's been a little hard for me to feel 'loved' by Titus because he's just not touchy. Well, we've been working on teaching him to give kisses lately. He'll run up to me with his mouth wide open and run into my mouth. Sometimes he still has his binki in, which is cute too. Usually he does it with a face full of snot (he's teething... only a mother's love will accept wide open snotty kisses--I'll take what I can get!)
WELL, today Titus ran up to me, with no prompting, and gave me a big ole kiss. I was so happy, I felt like a little school girl who'd just been kissed by her crush! Okay, I know I'm pathetic, and I'm secure in that :0)
Also, Titus has been directing his sound "mama" toward me, even obviously using it to try to get my attention. I like being called mama and being kissed by my little guy. Oh, the little joys of motherhood...

Entering Known Territory
April 1st marked the day that Titus reached the age Leeann was when we brought her home. At one day shy of Titus being 16 months old, we entered known territory of parenthood!
Funny though, Leeann seemed so much more mature at this age, or maybe we just expected more of her because we didn't know any better? Maybe it's just the difference between any two given kids, or between a boy and a girl? Maybe my memory fails me? Anyway, I am glad to be entering a known stage of parenting... it makes things not so mysterious. That whole infant thing, not my cup of tea!
p.s. This is my 400th post. Yikes!

A Day in the Park
A local magazine called "Mom Magazine" is going to publish an article on The Adoption Story (see my very first post). Eroica took some pictures of us at the park to get some pictures for the story.
Our Vacation
Here are a few of our pictures from Canon Beach. It was such a fun and relaxing time together as a family. This will undoubtedly be a tradition for our family for as long as the conference center keeps inviting us back!
Little Helpers
Anatomy of Seagull catching?
Our Pastor is an Iowa farm boy. The staff and their wives had a retreat at the coast at the beginning of March and we ended the trip with a little bit of feeding the seagulls. Denny, being the farm boy that he is, wasn't content with just feeding them... he had to catch one! If you've never seen someone catch a seagull before, you can see it in slow motion below for your viewing pleasure!

My Birthday?
Yup, it's been that long since I've posted any pictures. These are pictures of my 25th Birthday and my sister, Hope's 2nd Birthday. Since we share a Birthday it seemed fitting to share a party! I think I posted about it earlier, but here are the pictures...

I always wanted a sister!
This is Titus and my cousin's son, Dallas. They were playing some good ole' fashioned nintendo together... or at least Titus though he was helping. He seems to have things a little backward though :0)
On the Home Front
So I haven’t blogged much lately, what’s new? We’ve been up to much of the same ‘ole same ‘ole lately. Between work and home Rob and I are both keeping quite busy these days. Exciting things are happening at our church and it’s fun to be a part of, but it can also be exhausting at times!
I’m saving up for a lap-top computer. It would really simplify my life a bit to be able to use the same computer at work, at Precious Portraits and at home. It would also help for me to be able to do some things out side of my bedroom (which is where my home computer is) and/or out of the office (where it can be hard to concentrate). I also think it would go a long way for me to be able to get my work hours in, and to get my work done, if I had a mobile computer. Even being able to take my computer into the nursery at church while my kids play could be priceless, especially once Suzy and the boys leave. So, I’ll keep you updated on that progress. I think I’m about half way there. Anyone want to buy a previously loved desktop for say, $200? It’s still in great condition, but we won’t need it if we both have lap-tops… and it would get me closer to my goal! Just thought I’d check :0)
We’re in the middle of several minor home remodeling projects. Remodeling is tough, because when you do one thing you just want to do something else. Like, since I’m redoing the master bathroom floor, it would be nice to paint since the molding is already off. But then we’d have to take down the wall paper, and the towel racks and other fixtures. Not to mention the fact that we’d have to buy the paint. We've spent the last couple of days painting the living room and our entry way floor is half ripped up in preparation to lay new flooring in there. Luckily, we have the flooring already, but it’ll be quite a project to finish! I’ll post pictures when all is said and done. At the very least, it’s fun to do, and hopefully our house will look much nicer because of it!

Life without pull-ups (for real this time!)
Leeann is officially 100% pull-up free—even at night! Yippie! We ran out of pull-ups toward the end of last week, and we told her that she was going to start wearing big-girl panties to bed. The first night she had an accident around 11:00. I made a silly mistake and borrowed one of Logan’s pull-ups because she was so concerned that she would wet again. The second night, she wet about 2 minutes after she went to bed. I got her cleaned up and changed and sent her back to bed. About 5 minutes later she’d wet again. Arrggg. Obviously she was doing it on purpose… I think she wanted another one of Logan’s pull-ups! So we cleaned her up again and told her she was just going to keep getting big-girl panties. So she went back upstairs to go to bed, but ended up going to the bathroom every couple of minutes. About 10 times later and with some snuggle time she finally fell asleep. Then we went to the store and got her some thicker night-time panties and those seem to make her feel safer like a pull-up but still uncomfortable when wet like big-girl panties. She’s had like 6 dry nights in a row and there’s no going back! One kid down, one to go!
In other Leeann news, she talks longingly about wanting to be 4 and about getting her Cindegrella (that’s how she says it) cake. She told me on Saturday night that she wants 3 friends to come over and help her eat cake. Ashly, Amanda and Faith. It’s so awesome to daily witness the growth and comprehension in her language. She gets bigger and smarter and prettier every single day! Leeann is such a blessing. It’s a little weird to think about this way, but Leeann truly is one of my best friends. She’s so sweet and kind and loving, and she’s such a joy to be around and spend time with. She’s going to be one of those super-loyal friends. I can already tell that God’s got something wonderful planned for my little princess!

Getting Bigger?
Titus’s 15.5 month stats:
18 lbs 10 oz
28 inches long
So, he’s still off the bottom of the charts, and he still hasn’t hit 20 pounds (which is what I was hoping for!) but he’s happy and healthy and developing well. He is, however, the size of an average 9 month-old. It’s okay, it just makes him appear really advanced!
In other news, he’s got the greatest smile I’ve ever seen—he gets that from his dad! He’s running and playing and babbling lots. He still doesn’t really have any words yet though. He’ll say mamamamamama and dadadadadadada, but I’m not sure he’s purposefully using them in the right context yet. He said banana clear as day once a couple months ago, but we haven’t heard it since. He signs more and milk pretty regularly, and though he doesn’t ‘sign’ all-done, he throws his food on the floor or pushes in away making it very obvious that he’s “all-done”. Aunt Suzy swears she’s heard him say all-done, but he hasn’t said it for me yet.
It’s great and marvelous to see him growing so big and learning so many new things. Kids truly are a wonderous sight to behold. I love being a mommy!

"One of those days"
Do you ever go to bed with a heavy heart and so much to pray about and think about, and with so many things going on around you, that even after 8 solid hours of sleep you wake up feeling beat up and ragged like you've just run a marathon... and the day hasn't even started! For me, it's one of those days!
I'm sitting here eating my Captain Crunch wondering if the best way to face my day is not even to face it at all and just crawl back in bed. Maybe my "healthy breakfast" will give me the pick-me-up I need? Probably not though. I imagine once this cereal is gone I really should crawl back into bed, and spend some time praying and giving my cares to God. "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7. That's what I read this morning in a devotional book from Rob's mom (thanks!). I think I'll go do that now :0)
p.s. God is so great and Rob and the kids and I just got to go to the coast for 3 days for vacation... I'll give you more details on that soon hopefully. And I've got pictures, so stay tuned!

My children, disobedient?
Everybody thinks their kids are perfect. I recognize this. I just know that in most instances, I happen to be right :0)
Well, yesterday I was about at my whits-end. Leeann had several disobedient spells last night, which is fairly rare for her. She seems to test the bounderies every-so-often, but is pretty compliant most of the time. Her "challenging side" seems to be more in that she's very emotional and easily hurt or upset. Yesterday however, was a day of testing for sure!
Titus on the other hand--he's giving me a run for my money. Leeann was almost too easy. You discipline, she responds. You encourage her, she repeats the positive behavior. Classic text-book. Not only that, but she's also snuggly which helps ease my frustration because my #1 love language is physical touch.
Titus--touch? No way! He wants to be down, left alone and able to explore. Not only that but he also wants to explore anything and everything that he can get his hands on. His response to any form of discipline? Let me see how many times I can do this again and get the same result! He reminds me of my brother just trying to push my buttons when I was a kid! Would you like to know how many times yesterday that he tried to put his socks in the VCR, pull the tape deck off of my boom box, grab the silverware from the dishwasher while I was trying to do dishes, or grab at the sharp tools I was using in a little remodling project? Way too many times for my sanity, that's for sure!
Oh, the joys of parenting!

Challenged by God
I went to a breakfast this morning with one of the missionaries our church supports and some others. His name is Manny Fernandez from World Link. I was so encouraged and inspired by the stories he was telling of churches upon churches being planted in various parts of the world, and about their expodential growth because of their obedience to God and their desire to reach those who do not yet know Christ as their Savior.
They are unashamedly telling people about God's love for them and instructing them about how to have a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Have we made church too complicated? Are we complicating the simplicity of the message of Christ?
The Bible tells us that while we were still sinners He died for us. That's amazing! He didn't die for those who have their life in order. He didn't die for those who are already perfect. He died for everyone. For those who recognize their inperfection. Those who know they aren't holy enough to stand in the presence of God without the blood of Jesus to cover their sins. Even those who have done such bad things that they don't think Jesus could forgive them for what they've done. Yes, even the 'worst' of them. Not only will God forgive you of your sins, but He'll forget them, never to be used against you again. A clean slate--it seems like we all need that!
The message is true, and Jesus Christ is amazingly real. If you haven't asked Jesus Christ into your life--don't wait.
The time is now, just as you are. Who knows that tomorrow will bring? Ask Jesus to come into your life. Accept him as your Savior. Put your life in his hands. It's that simple. No strings attached.
The angels in heaven rejoice when even just one who is lost comes to know Christ. Give the angels a reason to party today! God loves you more than any human being ever could. He loves you more than you could love any other human. His love is that big, and that perfect. Nothing would give Him more joy than for you to accept the gift of His son, Jesus Christ. He's waiting with open arms. Run to Him!

A New Name
I've thought for quite some time now about changing my name. It might seem silly to some of you, but the whole "Rob and Robyn" thing is just too cute (and too confusing) sometimes. Besides, I'd kind of like to do something wild and crazy like change my name. So, I am currently open to ideas about what my new name should be. I don't really have any requirements for my new name other than maybe something a little more feminine (couldn't be a boy's name).
Any suggestions? Leave a comment by clicking on the comment button below this post.
My middle name is Elizabeth, so any variation thereof is always a bonus, but not necessary.
p.s. I'm not going to change my name tomorrow, but probably at some point... so I'm just taking suggestions, don't go all crazy on me for changing my name just yet.

Children's Ministry
I love my job! I really do. I look forward to going to work with great excitement and I feel like I have a very meaningful job that has the potential to make a huge impact in the lives of kids. Could you imagine any greater calling than to win kids to Christ and grow them in their faith?
Wow.
I try not to spout off about my job too much on this blog because it's very purpose is to keep you updated about what's going on in "Robyn's Nest", and I don't want this blog to turn into ministry musings. However, I've been reading a book that's been rocking my world and it seems to encompass most of my thoughts lately, so I feel compelled to blog about it.
I'm reading a book called Children's Ministry in the 21st Century. I would recommend this book for anyone called to reach kids in the 21st Century (and if you have kids, that includes you!). I'm only 2 or 3 chapters through and my mind is already spinning. It gives great insight into today's kids and puts before us a great challenge to meet kids where they are at, even if it doesn't make sense to us.
I'm tempted to expound on what I've been learning more than that, but I wouldn't know where to start or where to finish, and I'd probably end up writing a book-lenth commentary by the time I was finished. Those of you who recall my IKEA post I'm sure will be greatful if I just stop there and recommend that you pick up a copy of the book for yourself.

25 and Other Such Things
It's typically seeing pictures on my computer that make me think to post. Our internet is currently upstairs on Suzy's computer and our pictures are on my computer (with no internet and no way to blog them currently). That's one of the reasons I've had a lack in postings recently.
So, here's the short of what you've missed in Robyn's Nest in the last couple of weeks.
I turned 25 and went home for my Birthday, which I shared with my 2 year-old sister. Secretly, I wanted Hope's Aqua Doodle... but I let her keep it. I thought it was the mature thing to do!
I cut my hair. Actually, I chopped it. And I bought some semi-expensive make-up. Then I realized that my big ole eyebrows didn't match my new look so I got them waxed. To take it one step furthur I even painted my toe nails. Now I just need to loose a few pounds. I'm on a quest for femininity. It's never come naturally to me... but it feels good to be girly, so I'm going to give it a try!
Rob and I went on a staff retreat with the other staff members at the church and their wives. It was lot's of fun! We went to Newport overnight. I like our staff... and their wives. I also liked having a place I could escape to will my hubby since our kids have been in our room for a couple of months. When we got back we decided to put Leeann upstairs with the boys and Titus's pack-n-play fits perfectly in a little nook in our closet. Before you freak out about our kid being in our closet, you have to see our closet. It's huge. It's big enough for all of mine, Rob's, Leeann and Titus's clothes as well as his pack-n-play with a little room left over. People in other countries share a house this size (okay I'm exagerating a little, but he's not being neglected by any means!)
Anyway, so that's been good because the last couple of nights Rob and I have been able to debrief before bed in a place away from everyone else... which is something we've been acustomed to doing but have felt somewhat lacking in lately. So, I hope this new arrangement works out well!
In other news: Titus has mastered the stairs. He looks so cute sliding down them on his stomach! He's also asserting his opinion stronger than ever, but I still think he'll be a somewhat mild-mannered little guy. He seems to maybe even be growing a bit too. Maybe I'm just hopeful though!
Leeann is sweet as ever and beautiful as can be. We're very blessed by having such wonderful children. She's woken up dry three nights in a row now. It goes against everything I stand for to bribe her with candy, but she's been getting some after breakfast each morning she wakes up dry. Could this be our last batch of pull-ups? Yippie!
Well, I should go now. Yup...

Boot Camp
Suzy and the kids and I just got done with Boot Camp--Ab Boot Camp! Ouch! I've done a little pilates this week too. This for me, is truly a feat... exercise has never come easily to me and frankly, I just find it hard to get motivated.
I've come to the realization though that post-C-Section especially I need to strengthen my abs before I fall apart! And, if I repeatedly gain as much weight in a year as I did this year, it won't be too long before I'll need to take far more drastic measures than some time with Billy Blanks! Exercise is good for me, and it makes me feel good and it makes me look good. So why do I find it so hard? Isn't that the crazy thing about life...

So, what did I learn?
Aunt Barb wanted to know what I learned at Vortex, what I will take home with me and what I learned about God through this experience, and I feel like this is the first chance I've had to do much more than breathe since I got back... so I'll do my best to answer your questions Aunt Barb!
I think the biggest thing that I learned is that I need other people, specifically other Children's Ministry Directors/Pastors, in my life in order to do my job the best that I can. There's nobody else that can truly understand the ups and downs, the joys and the struggles etc., like someone who is walking in the same shoes. I was the only part-timer so I now have the brains of 16+ other people who are ahead of me (some of them far ahead of me in numbers of kids, and experience in ministry) that I can pick, learn from, bounce ideas off of, interact with. And, because of the way Vortex was structured with so few attendees... we now all have a vested interested in each others lives and ministries.
That kind of answers all of the questions, because what I will take home with me is the ability to interact with this group of people about ministry ideas, thoughts and struggles. I will also take home some small tangible, practical ideas about signs, checking kids in, classroom decor, training and such. I also talked with several people about transitioning ministries and changing things effectively. Really, I'll take away lot's of good stuff, but I won't bore you with the details.
And what did I learn about God? He created us to need other people. We weren't meant to be able to do everything and to be everything to everyone all on our own. He's gifted us to serve him in specific ways, and we're meant to work with others who compliment our strengths and weaknesses to accomplish work for Him. It's a humble reality. I happen to like how God works though :0)
Thanks Aunt Barb for the great questions!

Our First Date!
Titus and I went on our first date for Valentine's Day yesterday. Just me, my little man and my Starbucks! He was a perfect gentleman, and his smile was enchanting. As you can see in picture number 3 however, he did reveal to me that he has a slight drinking problem! Titus had his first taste of apple juice yesterday and I had my usual double chocolate chip blended creme. We had some great conversation and lot's of fun. I think he's pretty close to the perfect Valentine!
Rob and Leeann went out on a date to Applebees where Leeann enjoyed a milkshake with her daddy. We hope to "date" each of our kids regularly and to teach them how to be good dates too. It was fun, and a joy to my heart to get to go on a date with Titus. I hope to do more of that in the future, because we had lot's of fun!

All the way up the stairs!
Titus made it all of the way up the stairs all by himself today! Suzy and I were eating lunch at the table and didn't even realize Titus had stopped toddling around by us until Weston said "Titus is stuck!" He'd made it half way up the stairs! We supervised as he crawled the rest of the way up. I'm pround of him... yet somewhat scared also. I just hope he learns to get down properly, and that he doesn't try to stand up when he's half way up the stairs.
We opted not to get top and bottom of the stair baby gates. We might regret that someday... but hopefully we'll just be able to teach him to navigate them well. I might have to eat my words soon enough though!

75 degrees and Beautiful!
Suzy and the kids and I met a friend, Leanna for lunch at Costco today. Then we went for a walk around the neighborhood. Truthfully, we were hoping to wear the kids out and it seems to have worked! It sure was nice to get outside and spend some time in the beautiful sunshine. The weather is even nicer than it was any of our days in Southern California ironically!
I haven't been doing much worth blogging about lately, hence the fact I'm posting about the weather!
My daddy is getting married on Friday. That's kind of wierd, but I'm excited for them. Now my kids can offically call Tasha Grandma :0) For those of you who don't know, she's less than a year older than I am which makes this statement especially funny! Their kids (my younger siblings) are both younger than Leeann. It's comical to talk to my dad about potty training and other parenting issues. Such is life... it seems we all have somewhat disfunctional families... mine just happens to put the "fun" into that word!
My Birthday is coming up at the end of next week also. It used to be a sacred day (insert sarcasm there) until my little sister decided to steal it from me. When I grew up I always wanted a little sister. I dreamed of what it would be like to share clothes, and stories, and makeup. Well, on my 23rd Birthday my dream finally came true. Well, kind of. The little sister part of it came true, but I don't think we're likely to be sharing clothes or makeup anytime soon! I wouldn't trade her for anything though. I think we'll get along better in the future. Right now she just gets really jealous when she sees some other girl pop in every couple of months claiming that her daddy is their daddy too. She doesn't like to share yet! It probably doesn't help that I try to make her jealous because it's funny to watch. I guess sibling rivalry spans across decades even! I'm looking forward to seeing my family this weekend... it's always a blessing!
